Together with one donor we made sure Vera's school cost was paid for the 2013-2014 academic school year! Now we are fundraising for her 2014-2015 academic year.
Vera is 11 years old and still in 4th grade in a rural community in Ghana. It's not uncommon for students to be delayed in academic advancement because their families weren't able to pay school tuition on a number of occasions. Of the 72 million primary school-age children that aren't in school about half of them reside in Sub-Saharan African countries like Ghana. Parents in developing countries are increasingly disappointed in the public school systems and prefer to send their children to affordable private schools like Yesu Mmo. Vera is no exception.
Vera is a calm student who likes to study mathematics and participates in the math club. When she grows up she wants to be a banker. Her mother died and Vera is living with her grandfather who is financially responsible for three other children as well. He works as a taxi driver, but the taxi business in rural Ghana is not lucrative. There are many competing taxis in the small town and limited patrons, as well as limited fuel for their vehicles. Vera's grandfather didn't have the opportunity to receive an education and made up his mind to make sure that the children in his care would be educated to the best of his ability. He is working very hard to create a better future for his family.
For only $158 we can guarantee a year of education for Vera. Her grandfather needs our support. Let us ease his burden and guarantee that Vera will continue in school. An educated African woman will make 25% more income than an uneducated woman. We can make a transformative difference in Vera's life!
