Jephtha is 15 years old and still in 6th grade. He lives in a rural community in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. Many people in the community are not formally educated and struggle to earn sustainable income. It is not uncommon for students education to be disrupted due to financial instability. If student's parents aren't able to pay their school fees, students are sent home and their progress is delayed.
Jephtha is a bright student. He likes studying math and hopes to become a doctor. He enjoys music and likes Larry King. Typical of any teenager, his favorite part of going to school is spending time with his friends during break time. Jephtha is cared for by a guardian dedicated to taking care of needy children. She houses about 8 children and helps to financially care for another 15 children. She recognized that Jephtha is smart, but needed extra support. He came to live with her because his parents were having financial difficulties and were no longer able to support him. She supports all 23 children on her husband's pension salary and her own income as a local pastor, but the children are many and the resources are limited.
Jephtha's guardian needs help to pay for Jephtha's education. He is a bright student and with enough support he will have a brighter future. His guardian's compassion and dedication to the orphan and needy children of the village is remarkable. Let's support her in caring for these children by helping fund education. Jephtha's tuition fee includes the cost to attend school ($154) as well the cost for text books/stationary ($42), exercise books ($8), school uniform with footwear ($50), school lunch/bus transportation ($166) cost for the year.
