Together with 5 donors we made sure Jemima's school fee was paid for the 2013-2014 academic school year! Now we are fundraising for Jemima's 2014-2015 academic year
UPDATE: Since being accepted to nKoso in the summer of 2013, Jemima's family's financial situation has not changed and they are still struggling to make ends meet. Let's come together to make another year of education possible for Jemima.
Jemima is 11 years old and entering the 5th grade. She attends an affordable private school in the Brong Ahfaro region in mid-western Ghana. Many parents/guardians in Ghana and other developing countries prefer the affordable private school model to the public schools because they believe that their students are getting a better education. Public schools, while not incurring a tuition cost, do have hidden fees that can be nearly as costly as low-fee private school tuition costs.
Jemima is a smart and energetic student attending a school called St. Cecilia Educational Centre in a rural community. Jemima enjoys studying math and wants to be a nurse when she grows up. She likes playing football (soccer) and volleyball. She is fortunate to be in school, as students in rural communities are less likely to attend school than students living in urban areas. Jemima's parents are responsible for 4 children and make a small income by farming. Her father struggles to expand his farm as he relies solely on man power. The family's income is not reliable and her parents have a difficult time providing for their children.
An education for a girl in Africa means a lesser likelihood of contracting HIV/AIDS and a smaller, healthier family. Together we can make a difference to this family and ensure that Jemima will continue to receive an education at St. Cecilia Educational Centre. Let's come together to raise $123 so Jemima can enhance her future!
