Ahmed is 3 years old and beginning his first year of nursery school in Ghana. There are 72 million primary school children world-wide that are not in school and half of them live in Sub-Saharan African countries like Ghana. Ahmed lives in a rural community in the Brong Ahafo region of mid-western Ghana. He is enrolled at St. Cecilia Educational Centre, an affordable private school. These affordable private schools are becoming increasingly popular in developing countries. Although the government in Ghana provides "free" public education, there are a number of hidden fees that create a similar burden to families as a tuition fee from a private school.
Ahmed is a calm and smart student. He isn't sure yet what his favorite subject is or what he wants to be when he grows up. He enjoys playing with other children. He lives with his parents and his sibling. His family earns an income from a very small pension, which is not enough to adequately provide for the family.
Together we can guarantee Ahmed's education this year by contributing $92. With our help Ahmed's family will be able to more adequately provide for the family's other needs. Donating any amount will make a difference to Ahmed!
