Gifty is a 9 year old 4th grader living in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. Sub-Saharan African countries like Ghana are home to nearly half of all primary school-age children of the world that are not in school. Gifty lives in a rural community where many people weren't afforded the opportunity of a formal education. Gifty is attending an affordable private school called Yesu Mmo. Affordable private schools are becoming increasingly popular in developing countries as parents don't feel that the public school systems provide adequate education. They are often over crowded and lack staff accountability.
Gifty is a bright young student who wants to be a nurse and likes reading and learning English. Her father works as a nurse and desires that his daughter be educated to the highest level possible. He recognizes that some financial setbacks have made it difficult for him to assist her in accomplishing this goal. He is responsible for 5 children and would be enormously grateful for some help with Gifty's school tuition. He would then be able to take better care his children's other needs.
With our help, Gifty's school tuition can be payed and some financial ease can be brought to her family. For $173, we can cover the costs for Gifty to go to school this year. An African woman that is educated is three times less likely to contract HIV/AIDS, and more likely to have a healthier and smaller family. Let's work together to create a more promising future for Gifty!
