Together with generous donors we made sure Ephraim's school cost was paid for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 academic school years! Now we are fundraising for Ephraim's 2015-2016 academic year.
Ephraim is a 8 year old 3rd grade student in Ghana. One in 6 children will leave school before the 2nd grade in Sub-Saharan African countries like Ghana. In many developing countries parents prefer to send their children to affordable private schools because the public school systems don't provide a quality education. They are often over-crowded and lack teacher accountability and typically require that families pay uniform costs, exam and other hidden fees.
Ephraim attends an affordable private school called St. Cecilia Educational Centre in a rural community. He is an enthusiastic young boy who enjoys learning English and hopes to be a police officer when he grows up. His mother is a single parent caring for her two children. She works as a hairdresser, providing the service for women in the community as they need it. Her work is not consistent and she has a difficult time earning enough money to adequately support her family. Every year of education in a low income, developing country will increase a child's future income by approximately 10 percent.
Together we can make a lasting impact for Ephraim and his family for only $126. With the burden of education paid for, Ephraim's mother will be able to address other needs of her family. If we come together we can easily help Ephraim's mother educate her young son!
