UPDATE: Falida is no longer a student at Yesu Mmo. Her family changed her school due to their religious preference. The $163 raised for Falida's school fees have been re-assigned to Frank.
This student's original goal of $173 has been adjusted to not include a $10 money transfer fee. The remaining $10 was applied to another student's education. Donors have been made aware of this change. You can learn more here.
Falida is an 11 year old 3rd grader in rural Ghana. Children in Sub-Saharan African countries like Ghana are at great risk of not completing a basic education. One in 6 students leave school before the 2nd grade. Every year in school can make a difference in the future income of a child and educated African women are three times less likely to contract HIV/AIDS.
Falida is a shy student. She enjoys playing football (soccer) and studying science. When she grows up she wants to be a nurse. Falida is cared for by her stepmother. Her father died and her stepmother struggles to financially provide for Falida and two other children. She earns income by making bread and selling it to other community members. She earns little profit and tries to help other family members as well, but what she earns is not enough to provide for everyone's needs.
Falida's stepmother is generous and caring, but her income is limited and this puts Falida's education at risk. Together we can ease the burden by sending Falida to school for only $172. Donate today and give Falida the opportunity for advancement!
