Eggla is a 13 year old student in her first year of junior high school. She lives in a rural community in the Brong Ahafo region of mid-western Ghana. School-age children in rural communities are two times less likely to be attending school than those students in urban areas. Many people in Eggla's community are not educated and feed their families by peasant farming.

Eggla is an intelligent student who enjoys learning English. When she grows up she wants to be a nurse. In her free time she enjoys reading and playing football (soccer). She is cared for by her mother who earns an income as a petty trader and is also responsible for 5 other children. She had to take out a loan with a bank and is now struggling to pay it back. These payments make it incredibly difficult for her to also pay the school fees for her children.

African women that are educated earn 25% more income, are less likely to contract HIV/AIDS, and more likely to have smaller and healthier families. It's not easy for Eggla's mother to educate her daughter. Donate to Eggla's education and let this family know that you support them!
